Half Girl

The Half Girl series is a body of photographic works that are printed and then hand-finished with acrylic paint, resulting in unique, one off artworks. This series marks an exploration into painting and mark-making over photographic prints. Through washes of blues, greens, and yellows that loosely divide the image in two, the colours purposefully evoke natural elements such as oceans, hills, and the sun.

I’m drawn to the tactile nature of analogue processes, and to the space they allow for experimentation and unpredictability. Through layering and merging processes, my work opens a dialogue between humans and the environment, reflecting on our place within it. My practice is also an ongoing exploration of the photographic medium itself, a negotiation between control, materiality, and the unexpected.
